Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2025
Overview
We care about your privacy. Atlas is a local-first media streaming app for iOS, tvOS, and macOS. To the extent the app can provide its functionality without your personal info, we avoid collecting it. This policy describes what data the app uses and where it is stored. We do not sell your data.
Data storage
- On your device: Your addons, library, continue-watching, and playback progress are stored on the device (UserDefaults and SwiftData). Catalog and stream data are fetched from addon servers when you browse or play.
- iCloud (optional): If you enable iCloud, settings and preferences sync via NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore. When iCloud is configured for the app, library and progress may sync via SwiftData/CloudKit so the same Apple ID can see the same data across your devices. This data stays within your Apple account and our app does not host it.
Third-party services
- Addons: When you add an addon or browse catalogs and streams, requests go to those addon servers. Their privacy practices apply to that traffic.
- Trakt: If you sign in to Trakt, we use Trakt’s API with credentials from the app (or your build config). Trakt’s privacy policy applies to data sent to Trakt.
- Media servers: If you connect to Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby, we communicate with the servers you configure. We do not send that data elsewhere.
- Subtitles: Subtitle requests may be sent to the addon or service you use. Their terms and privacy policy apply.
Data we do not collect
We do not operate a backend that collects or stores your personal data. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. If we add optional analytics in the future, we will update this policy and allow you to opt out where required.
Retention
We do not retain your data on our servers. Data on your device is controlled by you; if you use iCloud, retention is governed by your Apple account and Apple’s policies.
Children’s privacy
Our service is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. You are advised to review this policy periodically.
